Hello crsfty friends. I finally got time to play with some of the latest foilable die cuts from Julie Hickey Designs for this Christmas card, picking up the colours from Color Throwdown and the layout from Freshly Made Sketches. I’m also going to share it with Happy Little Stampers, where their Christmas challenge theme is ‘anything goes’.

I started with Julie’s Christmas stencil on an A6 card blank, masked part of it off then blended ‘rustic wilderness’ Distress Oxide through it. The sharp eyed will notice that, despite masking with tape and sticky notes I still managed to get a smudge on the card front, but more of that later…

I foiled the mistletoe from Julie’s ‘festive foilables’ set with white foil – that wasn’t the original plan but I discovered I hadn’t got any green foil, so needs must! I then used Color Throwdown’s palette to colour it in, using a waterbrush and inks. I blended ‘groovy grape’ and fancy fuschia’ Artistry inks onto the ribbon (quite easy as the foilables are not porous so the ink stayed wet longer) and used the ‘rustic wilderness’ for the leaves. I used the lightest of Stampin’ Up!’s skin tone Blends to make the berries cream – they just weren’t showing up if I left them white.

The final step was to deal with that little green smudge – pink resin dots were the perfect solution!

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another creative offering.
This is really pretty!

I love how you used the repeated sentiment as one of the layers of the sketch. Very clever and a very pretty card. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
