Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back in my happy place with another CAS card today, this time using the ‘forever fern’ set from Stampin’ Up! I’ve taken inspiration from a couple of blog challenges for this one. The new theme at AAA Cards is ‘no layers and sympathy’ and I also picked up the central column from TicTacToe‘s grid with red, leaves and CAS.

I wanted to frame the image without putting another layer on the card, so embossed the rectangular die from SU’s ‘merriest frames’ onto an A6 card blank. I created a shim with several sheets of scrap paper under the card when I ran it through my machine, so the die didn’t cut into it.

I ran strips of masking tape around the edge of the frame and then stamped the leafy spray into the centre. I wanted to blend several colours onto the stamp, so used my platform and a few SU Write markers to add each colour in turn. I started with ”granny apple green’ for the stems & base of the leaves, then blended ‘poppy parade’ onto the leaves’ and finished with ‘mango melody’ on the tips.

I just added the sentiment in ‘granny apple green’ across the bottom to finish, using a stamp from Julie Hickey’s ‘garden blooms’ set.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m fully back in the swing with work now and it’s been raining today, so the summer seems to be coming to an end. Being a true Brit, I was quite pleased to see the rain – it just hasn’t felt right to have had weeks of hot sunny days!
