Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m trying to get back into my routine after all my trips away over the last month, so have resumed my Sunday sojourns back through Claritystamp’s Craft Club. Today it’s the turn of the lotus flower stamp from June 2021.

I started by creating the background with the large rectangle backdrop stamp. I brayered ‘salvaged patina’ & ‘stormy sky’ Distress Oxides onto the stamp then put it onto a piece of white card that I’d cut to fit a 5×7 card blank. You can see that it didn’t stamp fully across the top (not sure why), but I went with it as I thought the white areas looked like clouds.

I then repeat stamped the larger of the lotus flowers across the lower edge of the stamped background. I ran a piece of low tack tape along the edge before starting and stamped the centre flower first. I cut a mask for that from an all-over sticky note and covered it before stamping the next two, one on either side. I carried on masking & stamping until I’d got the whole row of flowers in place.

The next step was to colour the flowers using Pergaliner pencils. I used two shades of pink for the flowers, with a brown for the leaves & stems (although I now wish I’d done the leaves in an aqua colour to tone in with the ‘salvaged patina!)

I finished by stamping a few birds in the sky, then attached it to a 5×7 card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m going to share this over at Fusion, as I used their colour palette & sketch. We’ve got a long weekend here in England, with a bank holiday tomorrow, so more time to craft!!

Beautiful!
