read & dream

Hello crafty friends. I’ve had a lovely afternoon crafting online with my sister – we were both playing with our latest goodies from Claritystamp’s craft club last month. These two cards were made with the ‘thinking of you panels’ stamps – a great set to make borders & frames with. I’ve used the new colours of peach & grey from Color Hues for both cards. I made the one on the left first, and picked up the themes from the quotation at Time Out and ‘kids’ at Addicted to CAS

Let’s start with the left hand card, then. I used my stamping platform to create the border with the graphic lines & dots stamp from the craft club set – I lined it up on one side of the card blank, then just rotated the card 90 degrees each time to stamp the square, using ‘shadow grey’ Archival ink.

I stamped the tree from the ‘meadowdance’ set, again in the ‘shadow grey’, followed by the boy reading his book (from the ‘wee kids’ set). I then blended ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide through a large circle mask to create the sun, masking off the border lines with tape, so it looks like the sun is sitting behind it. I sponged ink along a torn piece of scrap paper to give the boy some ground to sit on.

I finished with the sentiment from the A6 ‘fly away’ stamp set. I initially shaded the lines in wiht a peach felt pen, but it didn’t look right so I went back over it in grey.

The second card basically follows the same process. I used the leafy swag stamp for three sides of the frame and added the line sentiment along the bottom edge. It’s got the same tree and sun, but this time I added the grass from the ‘family miniatures’ stamp set, then grounded it again with a sponge, ink & torn copy paper.

Thanks for dropping in. We’re all braced here for the extreme heat forecast to hit the UK over the next few days (not that it’s been exactly cold today!) It will probably be too hot to go out during the day (the advice is to stay incdoors), so I’ll just have to comply and do some more crafting! Take care everyone, and stay safe.
