Welcome to my crafty blog. I needed a card for a friend who’s just had a baby girl, and was inspired by Just Us Girls‘ challenge of creating a rocker card – it seemed very appropriate. I’ve never made one of these before – there are loads of videos on YouTube and it’s very easy! I used the sketch from TGIF for my layout (I hope the team don’t think I’ve taken too many liberties with it!) and included Global Design Project‘s theme of ‘shapes’.

As I said above, this was surprisingly easy! The card base is made from a large die cut cicle, which is just folded in half. I added a strip of patterned paper (a very old Lili of the Valley one that’s been in my stash for years!) and trimmed it to follow the edge of the card base.

I die cut a circle of white card (this one is 14cm diameter), covered it with the pink paper and glued it onto the card front. I stamped the sentiment from Clarity’s ‘essential sentiments’ set in ‘prickly pear’ Archival ink, the added two die cut hearts in the co-ordinating paper. I popped the little one on a foam pad fro extra dimension.

I finished it off by adding a few pink Glossies enamel dots and a heart.

There is a reason for their positions (other than design, obviously!) – as I’d offset the large circle on the card, I needed to add weight to the left hand side so that it sat straight when opened, rather than leaning to the side. A key tip to remember in future!
Way to combine the sketch with the rocker card! Turned out great. Thanks for joining in at JUGS
