Hello there. I needed a boy’s birthday card so turned to Julie Hickey’s star dies as the focus for the card. I took the layout from the sketch over at As You See It (swapping the circles for stars), together with the colours from Color Hues, adding in their optional theme of ‘stars & stripes’. I also included three elements from Festive Friday‘s inspo list (stripes, black & enamel embellishments) and will be sharing this with Happy Little Stampers‘ stencil challenge.

That’s quite a list! I started with a square of white card and blended ‘chipped saphhire’ Distress Oxide through the small stripes on Julie’s ‘fern foliage’ stencil, repeating it until the card was covered. That then went onto a 6×6 card blank.

I next cut several of the star dies in red & black card, layering them up and attaching them to the card front. They all fit together so well – there’s a mixture of frames and centres on here.

I stamped the sentiment onto a die cut banner using the ‘chipped sapphire’ and attached that to the card front. It definitely needed more adding to it, so I scattered a few dark navy Glossies enamel stars around it and popped a light blue one in the centre of the top star. I also added the little red card ones that came out of one of the die cuts – nothing went to waste!

Thanks for dropping in. It’s been another very hot day here – we’re officially in a heatwave now! I spent the day at the coast with a friend, so at least there was a bit of a sea breeze there, but it is still uncomfortably warm this evening. No sign of it cooling over the next week, so I’ll just have to stay indoors and craft!
Deborah, the stencilled background is fabulous – such a sense of life and movement! The variations on the stars adds real interest to the design. Great job. Thanks for joining us again at As You See It.
