seashell friends

Hello crafty friends. It’s proving to be a busy old week and I didn’t manage to post a card yesterday for the first time this year! I’m back today, though, with a beach themed card using Stampin’ Up!’s ‘friends are like seashells’ collection. I thought of this as soon as I saw the inspiration photo & theme at The Card Concept, which I’ve paired with Joanne’s sketch over at The Paper Players

I started by attaching a piece of the SU ‘waves of the ocean’ to an A6 card blank. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of white card using ‘cobalt’ Archival ink and added that to the card front.

I cut the ‘seaside seashells’ die in white card, then ran it through the ‘seashells’ embossing folder before blending ink onto the shells with a brush – I used ‘pumice stone’, ‘antique linen’ and ‘speckled egg’ Distress Oxides.

I fussy cut all the shells out of the die cut (as usual, I hadn’t decided which one to use at that point!) I laid them out on the card in various arrangements and in the end went with three of them, using foam pads to attach them.

That’s a first outing for the seashells this year – hoping for more good weather to inspire me with them again!

  1. Those beautifully coloured textured shells and watery background paper make me want to head for the beach for sure Deborah! Thanks for playing along with my sketch challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

  2. I just love these seashells and your card, Deborah! The background paper is so beautiful, and I love the soft colors you added to the shells. The sentiment is wonderful too. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players!
