Hello crafty friends. I’m back with another stamp that I picked up at Clarity’s Open Day – a brand new linocut set called ‘under the apple tree’. It’s such a lovely scene and perfect for The Paper Players‘ one layer clean and simple challenge. I thought the current colours over at Just Add Ink were ideal as well, and the outdoor scene picks up the feel of the photo at Hand Stamped Sentiments

I started by making an A6 card blank from ‘very vanilla’ card stock, then stamped the outline image onto it using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

I lined up the infill stamp on my stamping platform, then blended ‘mustard seed’ and ‘ripe persimmon’ Distress Oxides onto it with a sponge. I gave it a light spritz of water and stamped it onto the image.

I added the sentiment from the set along the bottom, again in the ‘watering can’. I cut a piece of Mylar plastic down, slightly larger than the image, attached it to the front with a little masking tape, then flipped the card and used a bone folder on the inside of the cardfront to create an embedded frame around the Mylar.

This is such a great technique that I picked up from Barbara and gives the card a lovely finishing touch. It stops it looking so flat, without adding any layers on the card front.
