Hello crafty friends. Well I’ve really stepped it up with today’s card – not my usual style as I don’t really go for fancy folds, but I thought it was worth the stretch for once! Just Us Girls are looking for trifold cards in this week’s challenge, and I found a template for this one on Pinterest. The central column of TicTacToe‘s grid also has a fancy fold, together with sparkle and a free space, so that worked for this and I incorporated the new theme of ‘birds and bees’ from The Paper Players

So I started with the template and made my card blank from an A4 sheet of white card. I then cut panels for each section from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘ever eden’ designer paper, using the leafy pattern on the front & rear panels and the dotty reverse side for the central one. I covered both sides of the central panel, as they’re both visible when the card is opened.

I die cut two leafy stems from SU’s ‘birds and more’ dies in ‘evening evergreen’ and glued then onto the central panel. I stamped the two birds from the ‘birds & branches’ set and heat embossed them with gold sparkle powder before die cutting them. The nest was also stamped in ‘evening evergreen’, die cut and attached to the front panel with foam pads. I then sat one of the birds amongst the leaves and the other one on the nest.

For the rear panel, I stamped and heat embossed the hive from SU’s ‘honey bee’ set, then die cut it and two of the small bees. I used a WOW embossing pen to ink the stripes on the bees and heat embossed them with the gold sparkle powder as well. I glued the hive to the bottom of the panel, sat one of the bees on it with a foam pad and popped the second at the top, so that it could be seen when the card is folded.

I finished by adding Wink of Stella to the bees’ wings and to the birds’ bodies for added shimmer (although it doesn’t show up in the photo). Now although this was a bit more complicated than my usual cards, the biggest challenge was photographing it!

Super cute! Love the fun fold!

Your card looks great! I like how you did the gold embossing to tie in with the gold on the patterned paper, especially embossing the stripes on the cute little bees 🙂 Thanks for playing along with the Paper Players this week!
