new home flowers

Hello crafty friends. I’m a bit late posting today – I’ve had a fab day over with friends planning an overseas trip (it’s very exciting!) Better late than never, tough, so here’s today’s offering to share with you. I immediately thought of Claritystamp’s ‘meadow flower spray’ when I saw the inspiration photo from The Card Concept, with one of their backdrop stamps behind it to pick up the sketch from Just Add Ink

The first step was to use a brayer to add Distress Oxides in ‘salvaged patina’ & ‘mowed lawn’ to the small circle backdrop stamp, then stamp it onto a square of white card.

I then stamped the ‘meadow flower spray’ over it. Now I wanted the colours of the line art to match the shading, so I used my stamping platform for this. I first inked it up with ‘mowed lawn’, but wiped it off the flower heads before stamping. I then added ‘picked raspberry’ & ‘shaded lilac’ to the flowers using a sponge and then stamped those into place.

My inital plan had been to watercolour it with the Distress Oxides, but I thought that might blend out the stamped image so I used Pergaliner pencils to shade the flowers and leaves instead.

I just stamped the sentiment in ‘watering can’ Archival to finish (this is a really old one that I’ve had for ages – ‘new home’ stamps seem to be difficult to come by!), and then attached it to a 6×6 card blank

Thanks for dropping in. I can’t believe we’re heading into the weekend already, but it’s a longer one in the UK as we have a bank holiday on Monday for May Day. Enjoy it, whatever you’re doing.
