tulip happiness

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m posting a bit earlier than usual today, as I’ve got a last minute entry for Color Hues – I really wasn’t sure whether I liked this paper from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘flowering fields’ set when I first saw it, but it’s perfect for their ‘purple & green’ challenge. I’ve teamed it up with the new sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for this card of encouragement.

I started by covering a 5×7 card blank with the reverse side of a piece of the tulip paper – I do actually really like these shades of purple.

I then trimmed three strips of the tulip patterned paper and chopped them in two about 1/3 from the bottom. I glued them onto a piece of white card, using a ruler to make sure I’d got them all level with each other. I then stamped the sentiment from Julie Hickey’s ‘stitched banner & sentiments’ set into the gap using SU’s ‘evening evergreen’. The topper then went onto the card front.

I then die cut a tulip, leaf and stem from SU’s ‘tulips’ dies – very easy now I’ve mastered how to use them! I used an offcut of the purple paper for the tulip, with ‘evening evergreen’ card for the leaf and stem, then glued the stem into place before attaching the flower and leaf with foam pads.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m really happy with how this one turned out – it’s always good to push a bit with stash that doesn’t initially grab you. It just needs the right perspective.
