Welcome to my crafty blog and a first outing for a new set from Stampin’ Up! – ‘waves of inspiration’. This is yet another card that I’ve not done any stamping on, but I’m sure I’ll be back to normal soon! I’ve used the sketch from Global Design Project today, and loosely based the design on ‘The Great Wave’ Japanese painting by Hokusai. My son is a big fan of his work and I thought of it as soon as I first saw these dies (more of that later).

I started by attaching a piece of the ‘waves of the ocean’ DSP to a slimline card blank (that’s a DL card if you’re in the UK). I then die cut one of the waves in white and glued it onto the card front. I cut it again in one of the blue DSP sheets from the pack, and pieced the inserts in the white die cut. I glued these which was a bit fiddly, as I forgot to put ‘Stick It’ adhesive on the back of the paper before cutting it!

I thought the wave looked a bit flat, so cut the second die in white and layered it over the top (I don’t know if they’re supposed to work like that, but they seem to fit). I cut some of the bird dies in the blue paper and glued them into place as well.

I found a Claritystamp word sticker that was very appropriate, so cut it into three sections, layered each onto the blue DSP and attached them to the card from with foam pads.

We’re fortunate to live on the edge of London so have been to see the Hokusai works in the British Museum several times. It’s even on their coffee cups!
