Welcome to my crafty blog and a new theme over at the Alphabet Challenge. We’re on to the letter Y, and Helen has challenged us to use ‘your favourite colour combination’. Well this was a bit of a no-brainer for me, as I love blues and teals – they’re definitely my go-to shades when I have a free hand.

I decided to use the fern dies and stencil designed by Hazel Eaton for Julie Hickey Designs – these are rapidly becoming a favourite of mine. I started with a 5×7 card blank and repeat stencilled the set of lines from the fern stencil across the bottom part of the card in ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide. I blended more of the ‘chipped sapphire’ over the lines, together with ‘speckled egg’ around the top part of the card.

I blended ‘chipped sapphire’, ‘salvaged patina’ & ‘speckled egg’ onto another piece of white card. I brushed more of the ‘chipped sapphire’ over the large and small fern detailed stencils to create the background, and then attached the piece to the card front.

I cut the medium fern from the die set in white card and glued it onto the card front. I stamped a sentiment from Julie’s ‘positive wishes’ set and cut it with a nested circle die. I brushed a little ‘speckled egg’ around the edge before attaching it to the card front with a foam pad. The final touch was to add a few white Glossies.

Thanks for dropping in. We’d love you to join us at the Alphabet Challenge and show us your favourite colour combination. In the meantime, I’m also going to share this card with Freshly Made Sketches as I based it on their current layout sketch.

Beautiful!
