Hope for tomorrow

Hello everyone. Just a short post this evening – I’m away for the weekend and can’t get an Internet connection in my hotel room so I’m blogging this on my phone (which I’ve never done before!). As I’ve typed that sentence, it’s struck me that’s a real ‘first world problem’, especially given then context of the card I’m sharing today, so I just need to get over it!

There’s a wave of #CardsForUkraine flooding the crafting world at the moment and the current challenge colours at Color Hues are obviously in support of that. I also thought that the top row on TicTacToe grid would fit this too (bright colours, flowers, ribbon)

I’ve used the lovely ‘be happy’ stamp set from Julie Hickey Designs. I started by stamping the flower onto a square of white card, then coloured it using a waterbrush and Distress Oxides in ‘mustard seed’, ‘mermaid lagoon’ & ‘hickory smoke’. I cut a mask for the flower from a sticky note and then brushed the ‘mermaid lagoon’ around the edge of the petals. Once dry, I attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

I then stamped the sentiment from Julie’s ‘positive wishes’ set onto a small piece of card, attached the yellow ribbon to the back and popped it on the card front. A few blue Glossies finished it off

The new from Ukraine gets worse every day, and making a card doesn’t seem likely to make much of a difference to be honest. The UK Disasters Emergency Committe appeal has raised an incredible £50 million in the first 24 hours and I’m praying that is put to effective use to relieve the suffering of so many in Ukraine. In the meantime my prayers are also joining with millions others around the world that a peaceful solution can be found.

  2. Hi Deborah.
This is Gill who came along to your Whitchurch craft session last week, making the notice boards. A great fun session. Just wondered if you could recommend a make of Staple gun as I didnt take note of the make of the one we used on the day. Or are they all similar? I’m guessing it doesn’t need to be a heavy duty one.
    Kind regards,
    Gill Sharp

  3. Beautiful card, Deborah. The stylized sunflower with a heart on each petal seems especially poignant because it’s in honor of Ukraine. Thank you so much for sharing with us at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week!
