Welcome to my crafty blog. It’s time for a new letter over at the Alphabet Challenge and we’re on to X. Not an easy one, but Veronika has come up with ‘xanthic’, which means tending towards yellow (no, I didn’t know that either!).

For me, yellow immediately said honey and bees (a real favourite), so I dug out the retired ‘honey bee’ set from Stampin’ Up! I teamed it with the challenges from The Paper Players (wild about wildlife) and AAA cards (one rectangle of nine, plus favourite animal)

I started wiht a square of card cut to fit a 6×6 card blank, and decided to used the central square on it. I didn’t have my honeycomb stencil to hand, so used the die from the ‘honey bee’ set and brushed ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide through it, then blended a little more over the top of it.

I stamped the sentiment from SU’s ‘friends are like seashells’ set in black Archival and then attached the card to a 6×6 blank

I stamped two of the small honey bees in black ink, shaded them with a yellow pencil and die cut them, before gluing them onto the card front.

Back in my happy place with clean & simple crafting!. I feel I should explain why I’m so attached to bees (other than loving honey!). It’s because of the meaning of my name – here’s a helpful explanation from the Oxford Reference Dictionary (and interestingly I trained as a nurse and am usually pretty busy! Looks like my parents chose well)

Clean and simple perfection, Deborah! This is such a beautiful shade of yellow. I loved the story behind your name…and your attachment to bees. My first name is Margaret, which means “pearl”. I think that is why I love adding pearls to my cards. Thank you for playing in my Clean and Simple challenge at The Paper Players this week!

I love your bee-inspired CAS card, the shade of yellow you’ve picked is such a warm and welcoming one, and it really maikes your creation shine. I’m glad you found a way to incorporate your favourites into a project inspired by a tricky alphabet letter. Also, while I knew bees are associated with diligence, I never knew they’re connected to the name “Deborah”. How very interesting.
Hugs, Veronika
