W is for winter

Welcome to my crafty blog and a new letter over at Alphabet Challenge. Melanie has chosen ‘winter’ as the theme for W, which was very helpful in my goal of making a few Christmas cards each month this year.

W for Winter

I love making little scenes on cards (a technique I first learned from Barbara Gray over at Claritystamp) and this one’s not too complicated so I can cope with it in my present Covid brain fog! I started by trimming a piece of white card to fit an A6 card blank and used Clarity’s hills and little moon masks to create the sky and snowy landscape by brushing ‘chipped sapphire’ Distress Oxide across them. I did the sky first, then moved the hills mask a couple of times to add a light dusting of ink for the snowy hills.

I repositioned the mask and stamped some of the trees from Clarity’s ‘winter cabin miniatures’ in ‘rustic wilderness’.

I added the sentiment from the ‘Christmas rounds – doves’ stamp set and heat embossed it in gold.

The whole piece them went onto the A6 card blank. I finished by adding snow in the sky with a Posca paint pen – on reflection I now wish I’d scattered Wow’s ultra high white powder instead as the snowflakes would have looked less regular, but never mind.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m going to share this over at Color Throwdown as well, as I used their colour palette.
