birthday star

Welcome to my crafty blog. I managed to find some time to play with the new ‘more about the boys’ set designed by Hazel Eaton for Julie Hickey Designs. I decided to start simple, as I needed a quick card – I’m looking forward to Julie & Hazel’s online workshops in a couple of weeks to get some more inspiration with these. I’ve based this card on the design team one for Inspire.Create that we’ve been challenged to CASE (copy and selectively edit).

I decided to use the colours from the inspiration card and started with the ‘happy birthday stencil. I brushed ‘bundled sage’ Distress Oxide through it onto a piece of white card, and then added a little more ink around the edge to give it more definition.

I used the dies from the set to cut a solid star in dark blue and the criss-cross one in white, then blended more of the ‘bundled sage’ onto the white star. I glued them together and then attached both to the card front.

I finished by adding a few peach Glossies stars, to pick up the colour from the ribbon on Inspire.Create’s card.

I do like nice and simple designs. Life just got a bit quieter as well, as I tested positive for Covid today! Thankfully I’m not ill, it’s just very inconvenient. I can do most of my meetings online from home though, and I can get to my crafting stash while my son’s at work tomorrow so all is not lost!
