winter blue

Hello crafty friends. I’m a bit late posting this tonight, so it will just be a quick one. Here’s a couple of cards I made using Stampin’ Up!’s ‘merriest moments’ set, inspired by the challenges over at Just Us Girls and AAA cards

this is a story of one card that turned into two! I started by cutting a piece of the ‘simply marbellous’ paper to fit an A6 card blank, and then die cut and embossed the ‘merriest moments’ leafy frame in white card. I glued that onto the card front.

I stamped the poinsettia in ‘aqua fusion’ Artistry ink and added that to the frame. I also stamped a the leafy sprays and heat embossed them with silver powder before die cutting and adding either side fo the flower. I felt it needed something more to finish it, so die cut the smallest flower in silver card and popped that in the centre of the poinsettia.

I haven’t added a sentiment yet – it will probably turn into a winter birthday card, but what I did have left over was another poinsettia and some leaves. I’d cut two sets of flowers and four leaves to start with, but in the end didn’t use them all on the card. Rather than add them to my ever-growing pile of pieces to be used up ‘as and when’ I carried on and made a second card.

I kept this one as a CAS card, attaching the flower and leaves to the front of an A6 card blank. I cut three of the smallest flower in silver and glued them around the poinsettia. I stamped ‘joy’ in the ‘aqua fusion’ ink and popped a small silver gem in the centre of the flower to finish.

Thanks for dropping in. I think this second card is another early one for my stash for Christmas this year!

  1. I love your cards! You used the our challenge colors so well on both! I love that leafy frame and the addition of the blue flower is lovely. And I love the simplicity of the second one. Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!
