Hello crafty friends and welcome to my blog. A few new people have started following my ramblings recently and I just wanted to say thank you – it’s lovely to have you with us. Today’s card uses the new ‘weathered wood’ paper designed by Hazel Eaton for Julie Hickey Designs, together with one of the ‘sentiment circles’ stamps. The layout is inspired by the current challenge at Global Design Project, where the team have challenged us to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the card designed by Connie.
I started with a piece of the ‘weathered wood’, cut to fit an A6 card blank and then trimmed into four equal strips. I attached them to the card front, rotating each one so the shading stood out more.

I stamped the sentiment circle in ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide on white card and then heat embossed it with clear powder. I die cut it and blended ‘salvaged patina’ around the edges, before attaching it to the card with a foam pad.

I die cut several leafy sprays from Julie’s ‘fresh florals’ dies in white card and glued them around the circle. All it then needed was a few white Glossies to finish.

Thanks for dropping in. I’d struggled with this design to start with, until I thought of using the ‘weathered wood’ paper. I’m pleased with how it turned out.
Beautiful!
