12 Dies of Clarity day 11 – brick wall with cats & dogs

Hello crafty friends and welcome to the penultimate day of my 12 Dies of Clarity. November’s Craft Club was this die set of a brick wall with little cats and dogs – so useful!

This is also quite an excited post, as the first card was made for the new challenge over at Color Throwdown, where I’ve been invited to be a guest designer! The colours for this week are black and white with gold or silver, which I decided would be perfect for a little night scene with these dies.

I started by die cutting a narrow silver frame using one of Julie Hickey’s square ‘layers, frames & banners’ dies, which I attached to a black 5×5 card blank, together with a punched silver circle for the moon.

I then die cut the brick wall twice, once in black & the second in white, then layered them together with the black one on top, slightly offset so the the white one acted as a highlight.

I die cut one of the little cats in white and popped him on top of the wall before adding a word sticker to finish. I thought this sentiment totally summed up what cats are about!

I thought it was only right that my second card with this set featured the dogs, and nothing’s better than a walk in the woods. I cut Clarity’s ‘treescape’ die (one of my all-time favourites) into a piece of white card, trimmed it down to a narrow border and glued it onto a piece of ‘Antarctica’ designer paper. The topper then went onto a 6×6 card blank.

I die cut two of the little dogs in black card (they definitely look like labradors) and glued them amongst the trees. Another word sticker below the scene completed it.

These two cards definitely sum up our family’s animals. Benji-cat, who deigns to reside at our house, is most definitely Mr Independent. My sister and brother-in-law have Lola, a black labrador, who just loves people and long walks. Don’t forget to join us over at Color Throwdown – will you go with gold or silver on your cards?
