happy birthday circles

Hello crafty friends – I’m back with another card using the beautiful ‘all about the girls’ set designed by Hazel Eaton for Julie Hickey Designs (I did tell you there would be more of these!) Today’s card uses the layout from Freshly Made Sketches and the colour palette from Color Throwdown.

I started by cutting a piece of smooth white card to fit a 5×7 card blank and blended ‘picked raspberry’ Distress Oxide around the edge. I then stamped the fern from the set in ‘watering can’ Archival on opposite corners. I decided to leave the rest of the background plain, as I wanted the stamped circle to be the focus.

I then repeat stamped across a strip of card with the small words from the ‘all about the boys’. I decided to leave it on white card as I liked the contrast with the pink, and just edged it with a black Sharpie to give it a little definition.

The next step was to stamp the large circle from the set, again in the ‘watering can’ and die cut it. I cut the inner circle with the sentiment separately as well, so I could colour it with a contrast. I blended ‘picked raspberry’ onto the large circle, and then used a waterbrush and paper towel to lift the ink from the little circles before colouring them with ‘ripe persimmon’, ‘festive berries’ and ‘dried marigold’. I attached it to the card front with thin foam pads.

To finish I blended ‘dried marigold’ onto the small sentiment circle and then added it back inside the larger one with thicker foam pads.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another offering.
