Claritystamp new design club lookback – seedlings #128

Hello crafty friends and welcome to the next installment in my journey back through Clarity’s new design club. This week it’s the ‘seedlings’ stamp from June 2017 with the layout from Freshly Made Sketches. I’ve also taken inspiration from The Card Concept – I’ve used their colour palette for the CAS (clean and simple) card, and thought the seedlings picked up the leaves at the back of the flower arrangement in their photo.

I started by trimming a piece of card to fit a 5×7 card blank and die cut three squares into it. I did take a bit of liberty with the layout sketch as I had to make the central square smaller to fit all three on the card.

I made some pencil marks on the card blank so I knew where the apertures sat and then masked off a panel. I brushed ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide across it, and added some ‘mowed lawn’ as well. I stamped the ‘seedlings’ in ‘potting soil’ Archival (I used a little more masking tape so they didn’t show in the other apertures) and then coloured in the leaves with ‘festive berries’ and a waterbrush.

I thought the topper looked a little bare so I stamped the ‘seedlings off to the side of the central aperture and again watercoloured them with the ‘festive berries’. The sharp eyed amongst you will spot that I managed to get a small smudge on the card at this point, but I found a solution…

I attached the topper to the card front, and stamped the sentiment (from Clarity’s Craft Club set last July) in the central aperture. The final touch was to add a few red Glossies – neatly covering the smudge in the process!

Thanks for dropping in. I’m a bit late posting this evening – I did spend the afternoon being creative, but that involved helping my son put together his new IKEA bed! Not exactly how I would choose to spend a Sunday afternoon – I’d much rather have been crafting!
