purple fern

Hello crafty friends and welcome to another of my creations. I’ve been playing with a brand new stamp & stencil set, ‘all about the girls’, designed by the brilliant Hazel Eaton for Julie Hickey Designs. I watched her demos on TV earlier in the week – they were fabulous so I was very happy when my crafty post arrived and I could start creating with them!

I’ve taken further inspiration for this card from a couple of this week’s blog challenges. Addicted to CAS have got purple as their current theme, which I paired with the layout over at CAS Colours & Sketches. The team at CAS C&S have also got a call out for new design team members – I’ve thrown my hat into the ring with this card and last week’s offering, so I’ve got my fingers crossed!

So I started this card with the ‘fern and foliage’ stencil – I laid it across the top corner of a piece of white card and brushed ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxide through the large fern aperture. I then fitted the fern mask into place on it and brushed some more ink onto it – that gave the fern outline a lovely texture (a great tip from Hazel).

I then used the fern stamp from the ‘all about the girls’ set and stamped it over the stencilled image using ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxide.

The final step was to stamp the large circle from ‘all about the girls’ with WOW clear ink and heat emboss it in metallic silver. I then die cut the inner sentiment circle out from it and attached that over one of the stamped ferns. The whole topper then went onto a 5×7 card blank.

I’m so happy with how this turned out, and I’m certain you’re going to be seeing more cards made with this set over the coming weeks!
