Welcome to my crafty blog. I had a great morning doing an online class with Joanne James using the ‘merriest moments’ set from Stampin’ Up! It’s a very versatile set and I have fallen in love with the hybrid embossing folder that combines with an outline die to cut out and embossed image! I’d been thinking about how to try out a new-to-me technique of heat embossing with an embossing folder thanks to the latest Just Us Girls challenge and thought this might be the perfect time to try. If you don’t know how this is done, Just Us Girls helpfully shared a link to a video from Jennifer McGuire, which I watched first before diving in!

It took me a few goes to get this right (I decided not to take a picture of my bin!) but I managed to start by covering the inner rectangle of the ‘merriest moments’ embossing folder with a sticky note and then dragging WOW’s clear ink pad across the flat side of the folder. I added the outline die to the folder and ran a piece of dark green card through it. I could then carefully sprinkle WOW’s white embossing powder around the outer part of the die cut to emboss the background behind the leaves. If none of this makes sense, I recommend you watch Jennifer’s video – but this is what I ended up with.

I attached it to an A6 card blank that I’d made from dark green card. I die cut the stitched rectangle from the set and stamped the sentiment in the centre using ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide before adding it to the card front.

The final touch was a few of the dark green matte decorative dots from Stampin’ Up!

I can see I’m going to be trying out this folder a lot more in the coming weeks. I think it could also be used throughout the year, not just at Christmas, by changing the colours, etc.
I love the embossing folder with coordinating die that you used for this technique and you achieved a beautiful result. I love the snowy feel using the white embossing powder. Thanks for playing along with us at JUGS!
