Welcome to my crafty blog and another Sunday delve back into Claritystamp’s new design club back catalogue. It’s a bit of a contrast from yesterday’s cards, when I was using the most recent Craft Club stamps – the butterfly on today’s card is from April 2017. I’ve taken inspiration from a couple of current blog challenges – the colours are from Less is More and the layout from Inspired by (although I hope I haven’t taken too lateral an interpretation with it – apologies to the design team if I have!)

I started with Clarity’s ‘abstract squares’ stencil laid on the front of a 6×6 card blank. I used low tack tape to mask off the parts I didn’t want, so I just had five squares showing to pick up Inspired by’s sketch.

I then brushed Distress Oxides in ‘squeezed lemonade’ and ‘mustard seed’ across the stencil, although I didn’t really get much contrast between the two yellows so it just looks like one shade.

Next was to stamp the butterfly onto white card and heat emboss it with WOW’s ‘gold satin pearl’ powder. I then used a purple Pergaliner pen to highlight part of it and fussy cut it. A dab of glue on the reverse of the butterfly’s body attached it to the card front.

I finished by stamping the sentiment and adding a few purple Glossies. I didn’t think it needed anything else.

Thanks for dropping in. I am enjoying these weekend journeys back through my older new design club stamps – I often find that otherwise I just focus on using my newer stamps and don’t look back at the ones I’ve had for longer, and it’s amazing what you find that you’ve forgotten about when you check back into your stash (or is that just me…?!)
Smashing interpretation of both the colour and sketch challenges – good luck
