oh Christmas tree!

Welcome to my crafty blog and a Christmas card today. I haven’t shared any Christmas ones for a little while, so thought I’d better crack on with a few more. This card uses Julie Hickey’s ‘oh Christmas tree’ stamp, inspired by the current challenge over at Inspired by (!) I’ve taken a bit of a lateral approach from the inspiration photo, lifting the green, silver and white colours from it. I hope it isn’t too far off the mark and that the IB team are feeling forgiving!

I’ve CASEd (copy and selectively edit) a card Julie demonstrated on a recent online class I did with her using this stamp. The first step was to blend Distress Oxides onto a piece of smooth white card – I used ‘bundled sage’, ‘mowed lawn’ and ‘iced spruce’.

Once the ink was fully dry I stamped the tree and heat embossed it with WOW’s superfine metallic silver powder.

I used a waterbrush a piece of kitchen towel to remove the ink from the star and the berries, and then added ‘iced spruce’ to all the leaves with the brush. I blended a bit more of the ‘iced spruce’ around the edge as well, to give a better contrast.

The final touch was to scatter a little of WOW’s ultra high white powder on the top of the card and then heat it. I then just attached it to an A6 card blank and it was done.

Thanks for dropping in. Did you realise there are only just over 11 weeks until Christmas…?! I’d better get busy with some more cards!
