autumn flowers

Welcome to my crafty blog and a birthday card using autumn colours that a friend asked me to make for her daughter. I’ve CASE’d (copy and selectively edit) a design from Julie Hickey that I did in one of her online classes, so obviously have used her stamps for this (it would have been rude not to!). I’ve used the colour palette from this week’s challenge at Just Us Girls

I started with a piece of smooth white card trimmed to fit a 5×7 card blank, and brushed ‘mustard seed’ Distress Oxide across Claritystamp’s clouds mask for the background.

I then stamped the flowers and leaves from Julie’s ‘fresh florals’ set onto white card and heat embossed them with WOW’s bright white powder. I coloured them with Distress Oxides and a waterbrush – ‘mustard seed’ for the flowers, ‘ripe persimmon’ for the single leaves, and ‘festive berries’ for the leaf sprays. Once dry, I die cut them all out and then attached them to the card front.

I finished by stamping the sentiment onto a die cut banner and popping it under the flowers. A few red Glossies for the final touch.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ve just got to personalise this card now with my friend’s daughter’s name and it can go off to her.

  1. So in love with these yellow clouds, Deborah! Not sure I have ever done them with florals but I love the look! Way to start a new trend! Thanks for being with us at Just Us Girls. Take care!
