football birthday

welcome to my crafty blog – I’m just getting back into back into the blogging habit after my holiday last week. There’s always so much to do when you get back from a week away! I have got a long list of cards that need making though, so today I got on with making my brother-in-law’s birthday card. (It’s OK – he doesn’t read my blog, so no risk of a spoiler!)

He’s a keen supporter of Nottingham Forest football club, so I started with a Tattered Lace die. I cut it in white card, and then used alcohol blending pens to colour it in the club’s first team colours.

I found this black & white striped paper buried in my stash (I have mo idea how long I’ve had it!), so cut a square and mounted it onto a black 6×6 card blank. The footballer then sat on the front (I used glue to attach him), together this the football from the die. I really like the way the lines on the paper give a sense of momentum to the figure.

To finish, I stamped one of Claritystamp’s ‘essential sentiments’ onto black card and heat embossed it with WOW’s superfine white powder. I trimmed it into a banner shape and popped it on the card front. The final touch were a few card candi, just to add a further pop of red.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m trying to catch up on a few blog challenges, and I’m going to share this card with Global Design Project as I picked up their colour palette (adding the red as the optional choice). The background paper fits Just Add Ink‘s theme nicely as well.

  1. THE perfect card for a football fan, Deborah! Love the striking lines behind the bright pop of the jersey. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink this week. x
Have to agree, the prep work & follow up of a holiday is a lot!
