butterfly wreath

Welcome to my crafty blog and a colourful card using Claritystamp’s ‘butterfly wreath’ stamps. I’ve got this set in both sizes (it would have been rude not to!) – this card uses the smaller A6 set. I’m playing along with this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches, which is a double challenge of colours and a sketch.

I started with a square of white card and blended some ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide into the corner using a blending brush. I stamped the floral wreath over it using black Archival ink, and then used a waterbrush and piece of kitchen towel to lift the colour out of the flowers and the larger leaves.

I coloured the wreath using Spectrum Noir pencils and then attached the card to a 5×5 card blank. I stamped both the butterflies on a spare piece of card and shaded them with the pencils before fussy cutting them. I attached them to the wreath with a dab of glue.

The final touch was to add one of the Clarity word stickers – I think this sentiment is perfect and says it all!

It’s been a beautiful afternoon here, and I spent some time with a friend in her garden spotting lots of butterflies around the flowers. I’m hoping the sunshine lasts for the next few days at least.
