Welcome to my crafty blog. It’s Sunday so time for the next instalment in my journey back through Claritystamp’s new design club. This week we’re up to November 2015 and the ‘acorns’ stamp (another one I haven’t actually used until now!).

I haven’t made a card with a masked panel for ages and I thought this stamp would work perfectly for one. I started with a square of smooth white card, masked off the panel with low tack tape and blended Distress Oxides in ‘festive berries’ and ‘mustard seed’ across it for some nice autumnal colours. I then repeat stamped the acorns across it.

I used a waterbrush & kitchen towel to lift some of the ink off the acorns, and then coloured the nuts and leaves with Spectrum Noir pencils. I ran a deckle edge along the top & bottom of the panel with a micron pen (and also drew back in the detail on the acorns that hadn’t stamped as well as the others). I mounted the background onto a panel of red card and the attached the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

I finished by adding a sentiment and a little squirrel in dark grey – he’s no doubt very excited by the size of those acorns (trying to keep it clean and not comment on the size of his nuts…!)

Just Add Ink have asked us to add ‘N’ – I was thinking that would be ‘nature’ as that’s also the theme from Addicted to CAS, but then I realised that I’d also got ‘nuts’ on this card with the acorns.
