Welcome to my crafty blog and a second card for today. I had a lovely happy parcel delivered this morning, with my new goodies from the recent Claritystamp club members sale, so I got straight on to playing with some of the stamps I’d purchased – well it would have been rude not to, after they’d gone to the trouble of posting them!
I thought the linocut flowers would be perfect for this week’s layout at Freshly Made Sketches and teamed them with the delicious colour palette from Just Add Ink

I started by stamping the outline of the linocut flowers twice in black Archival ink. I then added Distress Oxides in ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘dried marigold’ to the background stamp using sponges, and then stamped it over the original image. I cut one out around the stamped edge, and trimmed the second one down to just have the inner section with the flowers.

Frustratingly, I didn’t have an inky background in my large stash of mop-up pieces that had the right colours, so I made a new one by smooshing the ‘picked raspberry’ & ‘dried marigold’ inks onto my craft mat, spritzing then with water and picking up the ink with a piece of Clarity’s stencil card. Once dry, I trimmed it down to fit on a 5×5 card blank.

I then attached the two linocut images to the card front, and finished by stamping the sentiment (from WOW’s ‘happy birthday sentiments’ set) in black Archival ink.

I do love these colours – I probably wouldn’t have automatically put them together myself, but they work so well with the linocut stamps.

I love those lino cut stamps – they remind me of many hours spent cutting and creating when doing my Art GCSE many moons ago!
