trees and sky

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m feeling happy with today’s card as I’ve used up another of the many inky mop-up backgrounds in my stash without making another one in the process! I’ve been trying to make a few more masculine cards recently, and Claritystamp’s ‘tree rows’ stamps give a more contemporary feel to a landscape. I picked up the ‘sky and trees’ theme from the new challenge at Just Add Ink and combined it with this week’s colours from Color Throwdown

I was delighted to find an inky background in my stash folder that had blues and green on it. I gave it a bit more of a definite horizon by brushing ‘bundled sage’ Distress Oxide across piece fo scrap paper that I’d torn against one of the edges of Clarity’s blending mat.

I stamped the row of trees in ‘potting soil’ Archival ink, and added some texture to the foreground by brushing ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide across another torn piece of copy paper. I trimmed the background down to fit on a 6×6 card blank.

I then coloured the trees with more of the ‘bundled sage’ and a waterbrush, using a brown Pergacolour pen to define the tree trunks and extend the base of the trees to the left edge. I ran a dark brown marker pen around the card edges and then attached it to the card front.

The final touch was to add the sentiment below the trees, again in ‘potting soil’.

Not much chance of blue skies here today – we’ve got thunderstorms forecast after all the recent hot weather!
