well done

Welcome to my crafty blog. Another quick post today, as it’s very close to the deadline for one of this week’s challenges and I don’t want to miss it. I’m really pleased with how this card to congratulate a colleague who’s got a new role has turned out – and it just uses scraps/card offcuts so gladdens my thrifty heart as well!

I’ve pulled three challenges together to inspire this little creation (plus my colleague’s news as well, obviously). The colours are lifted from the photo at Inspired by challenges (those melon lollipops just look so juicy!), I used paper strips to build the stripes thanks to Just Add Ink, and finally echoed the stripes and the leafy plant from Time Out challenges‘ photo.

I started by cutting myself a small rectangle of white card to use as a base, and then attached offcut strips of paper (these are Claritystamp designer papers), separated by narrow strips of white. In fact, the red/orange strips are scraps from the card I made on Monday!

I then die cut three leaves from Julie Hickey’s ‘fresh floral’ set and glued them onto the front of the topper. That then went onto a 6×6 card blank.

All I needed to do to finish was add the little sentiment, which is from Julie’s ‘everyday sentiments’ set. It sat perfectly on one of the white strips

Simples! Thanks for dropping in – we’ve got sunshine back today and I’m catching up with a friend for a crafting session this afternoon. Definitely a lovely day!
