Welcome to my crafty blog. Under normal circumstances I’d have been down in Kent today at the Claritystamp Open Day, but our persistent friend Covid and it’s restrictions has put paid to that, so Clarity are having an online festival this weekend instead.
I decided to have another play with the ‘riverside landscape reflection’ masks – there are still several in this set that I haven’t used yet. I’ve really got into creating scenes with masks, as an alternative to stamps – it’s so easy.
I took the ‘riverside view’ mask from the set and laid it over a small offcut of the Antarctica paper (the colours in these papers are perfect for landscapes). I sponged ‘chipped sapphire’ in Distress Oxide through the trees and riverbank, and then swapped the mask for the opposite reflection one to add a little of the tree image in the water using ‘speckled egg’

Next was to cut a square of grey card to fit a 6×6 card blank. I die cut a small square into it (slightly smaller than the piece of designer paper) using one of Clarity’s nesting dies and then ran it through a wood effect embossing folder (I used Stampin’ Up!’s ‘pinewood planks’ folder). I used the square die again together with the next size up to cut a frame in navy card and glued that around the gap in the grey card. Finally I used foam tape around the aperture to attach the image behind it, so I got a slight 3D effect – I wanted it to look like a window view, rather than a picture on the wall.

You’ll spot I also added one of the little ducks from the masks set to the pictures, and a few lines to look like ripples in the water with a micron pen. I attached the grey card to the card blank using more of the foam tape, and finished the card with one of Clarity’s word stickers.

I’m very pleased with this tranquil scene, and I’m going to share it with a couple of this week’s challenges. TGIF challenges want a window in their entries this week, and I also took quite a bit of inspiration from The Card Concept‘s photo. I picked up the framed landscape on the shelf, the wood panelling on the wall, and just had to include the little duck nestled in to the left of the shelf!

Great card – the little duck just finished it off nicely 🙂
