Welcome to my crafty blog. It’s time for a new challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and we have a colour scheme this week, with some gorgeous summer shades.
I’ve just acquired some brand new stamps designed by Marion Emberson for Julie Hickey Designs, that were only launched last week. I don’t know about you but I generally can’t wait to get new goodies out of their packets, so here they are!
I started with one of the flowers from the ‘smile often’ set and stamped it around the lower corner of a piece of card using Distress Oxides in ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘dried marigold’, as I don’t have the Stampin’ Up! inks shown in the challenge image. I then added the dots from the second set (‘feather it’) in ‘peeled paint’, to fill in the gaps.
I finished by adding the sentiments from the ‘smile often’ set, attached the topper to a 5×5 card blank and popped some Glossies into the centre of the flowers. Nice and simple – hope you like it!
I’m going to share this card over at AAA cards as well. You can see I picked up their ‘one corner’ theme, but this card also signals a few childhood memories. The flower colours remind me of those delicious sherbet sweets we used to have, and the sentiments made me think of my Dad, who loved to laugh. He was a great fan of comedy shows, especially The Goon Show and Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which I wasn’t allowed to watch when it was originally on TV as I was deemed ‘too young. I discovered it later on though and the wonderful thing is that both my sons are now fans! Laughter lives on through the generations.
They’re beautiful!!!

What a pretty card Deborah and a lovely design using that corner. The sentiment is heartwarming and I loved hearing about your memories of your dad. It was quite rare to hear my dad laugh but he couldn’t resist Dad’s Army and would roar with laughter at Captain Mainwaring and the rest of them. I agree that one of the joys of having children is sharing the music, films, tv shows you enjoyed growing up!
