dream big

Welcome to my crafty blog. I made today’s card thinking about all those who are getting ready to graduate from university and moving on to new things. It uses a couple of stamp sets from Claritystamp – ‘dream’ from the feel good words sets, and one of the butterflies drawn by Cherry Green. I’ve combined several challenges for this card (this might be a record for me!). The colours are from this week’s Global Design Project – I don’t have the Stampin’ Up! inks, so have used the nearest shades from my stash. Both Freshly Made Sketches and Just Add Ink have got slimline cards for their topics this week, and I’ve also picked up the ‘ombre’ theme from Addicted to CAS. Phew!

I started with a slimline card blank (DL size if you’re in the UK) and masked off a frame around the edge with low tack tape. I stamped the outline of ‘dream’ in Archival ‘watering can’ and then used the infill stamp to colour it with ‘dried marigold’ Distress Oxide and ‘avocado’ Artistry ink (I used a sponge to add the ink to the stamp to blend the colours together).

I then covered the word with the precut mask that came with the set and used the Claritystamp clouds mask to add the background, blending the ‘avocado’ and ‘iced spruce’ Distress Oxide to give the ombre sky. I then stamped the small word that comes as part of the set.

I finished by stamping the butterfly onto white card and colouring it with the ‘dried marigold’ and avocado’, before cutting it out and gluing it to the card front.

I have to admit, this isn’t my usual colour palette (you might have notice if you’re a regular reader) and I don’t do a lot of slimline cards, but I’m rather pleased with how this one turned out. See you tomorrow.
