the world is better because of you

Welcome to my crafty blog, and a card with a stamp set I’ve only used once so far since getting it – ‘hydrangea haven’ from Stampin’ Up! This seems to be one of those sets that I really like the look of and then struggle to put into practice – does anyone else ever have that problem? I’ve had another go with it as this week’s challenge over at Global Design Project is to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the inspiration card by Susan. She used this stamp set, so I’ve copied that and the sentiment, but edited it with a different layout and the colours from CAS Colours & Sketches.

I started with a piece of white card trimmed down slightly smaller than A6, and stamped the hydrangea outline across it, using ‘bundled sage’ Distress ink for the leaves and varying between ‘lush lilac’ and ‘blushing rose’ for the flower heads. I then used the infill stamps from the set to add the background colour to the flowers and leaves.

I then stamped the sentiment in the ‘bundled sage’ on a spare piece of white card and cut it into a banner shape, attaching it to the topper with foam pads. The topper then went onto a piece of co-ordinating green card before sticking it to the card blank.

I finished by scattering a few pink Glossies around the card to fill in the background.

Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be back tomorrow with another creation and some exciting news (well it is to me…!)

  1. Love your pastel hydrangeas Deborah – it’s almost like a hand-painted DSP. Very soft and pretty and perfect for this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches colours too. Thanks for playing along – and I’m very excited to hear your news tomorrow!

  2. YES! I know exactly what you mean Deborah. Sets you had to have because they immediately caught your eye, that sometimes get used once and you can’t really come up with anything else with them; but then there are other sets that you take a chance on that seem to live on your desk because they spark so much creativity and you use them so much!
This set seems to be made for our soft colours this week and I love the pretty pattern you’ve made. Thank you for playing with us at CAS Colours and Sketches! Vicky x
