leafy diagonals

Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with a second post today, to share this card made with my brand new ‘floral foliage’ set from Julie Hickey Designs that’s only just been launched. I took inspiration for this card from a couple of current challenges – CAS Colours & Sketches have got a sketch this week with diagonal lines, and I took the colours from Color Throwdown

I started with a square of white card, trimmed to fit on a 5×5 card blank and one of the leafy sprays from the stamps set. I used ‘Wedgwood green’ Artistry ink and stamped the spray three times across the bottom right corner of the card to pick up the diagonal lines in the sketch. I reversed the direction of the middle one and had to mask the stem of the leaves to stamp it a second time to make it long enough for the top line.

I coloured in the leaves using the ‘Wedgwood green’ and a Pergamano blending nib, as they were too small to use a waterbrush. I then used Perga colours to add dots onto the small berries to pick up the CTD challenge colours – pink for the triple berries and coral for the double ones.

Here’s a close up of the colours, as the detail’s very fine

I finished the card by adding the sentiment from Julie’s ‘positive wishes’, again in the ‘Wedgwood green’, and then attached the topper to the card blank.

Thanks for dropping in. I’m looking forward to using these stamps again – I’ve booked into Julie’s online class next Friday so will definitely get lots of inspiration there.
