Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card is a bit of a departure from my usual style, with the ‘chunky vintage car tag’ stamp from Crafty Individuals as the focal point. The starting point for this card was the current challenge of ‘very vintage’ over at TGIF, coupled with the sketch from As You See It (which I rotated) and the colour palette of yellow. orange, red & kraft from Color Throwdown

I started by making a 5×7 card blank from kraft card, and then cut a piece of light orange to fit onto the card. I stamped around the orange card using a swirl stamp, which the Crafty Individuals team generously sent as a freebie with one of my orders, and ‘walnut stain’ Distress Oxide to tone in with the kraft card. I also blended some of the ‘walnut stain around the edge of the card for a more vintage look.

The next step was to stamp the car tag onto some pale yellow card, again using the ‘walnut stain. I coloured the car with a dark red Spectrum noir pencil and then trimmed the card to the edge of the stamp image before again blending ink around it.

All I then needed to do was assemble the card, attaching the orange background to the card front first. I stamped the sentiment from Stampin’ Up!’s ‘vertical greetings’ set onto a strip of kraft card and then positioned the car topper to sit partly across it, using foam pads. I finished the card with a couple of red ‘card candy’ pieces that I’ve had in my stash for ages.

I did enjoy doing something a bit different from my usual style (it’s always good to stretch yourself), but I think I’ll be back to CAS cards tomorrow!
What a great vintage card! Someone is going to love receiving this! Thanks for playing along with us at Color Throwdown this week!

This is fabulous Deborah! Vintage isn’t my thing and the TGIFChallenge this week had me running to the hills, but I just love what you did with this card! A perfect combination and I love how you used our As You See It sketch too – sometimes it’s good to get out of our comfort zones!
