Welcome to my crafty blog. Today’s card is not my usual style – there’s very little stamping on it, just die cuts and designer paper. The main central feature is one of the fab round floral aperture dies from Claritystamp – this one is ‘periwinkle and friends’. I teamed it with a piece of paper from Clarity’s ‘Antarctica’ pack, as it had exactly the right colours on it for this week’s challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches

So here’s the piece of the ‘Antarctica’ paper that I started with for this card.

I positioned the floral die so the flowers sat within the peach coloured area of the paper, and then sat one of the nested circle dies around it so the whole image was cut out. I then reused the circle die together with the next size up to cut a frame (I used the other side of the paper for this to give a contrast), and stuck both pieces onto a circle of white card.

I then trimmed down a strip of paper from the piece I had left after cutting the flowers, and attached that to a 6×6 card blank. I love the blue tones in this piece.

Finally I attached the topper to the front of the card, and stamped the sentiment in ‘wild bilberry’ Artistry Ink.

Apologies if you’re a keen horticulturalist as I know these are not the right colours for periwinkles, which are a lavender blue. I have to say, though, I do think these peach and blue tones work well with the image so, like my grey deer from the other day, just call it artistic licence!
Nice one!

I love this – such a clever way to use the most perfect piece of DSP for this week’s challenge! The die helps to preserve the white space and keep your card beautifully clean and simple – bravo! Thanks for sharing with us over at CAS Colours & Sketches this week!

This is just perfection Deborah! You used the die over the exact area of the paper that worked best and the strip coordinates beautifully but looks quite different. Vicky x
