Welcome to my crafty blog. I’m back with another Easter card – this time using the current ‘Gift of Hope’ set from Stampin’ Up! I really like this little church image, which is not hugely dissimilar to my own church building, and of course the Bible verse in the set is perfect. I took inspiration for the colours from this week’s challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches – they’re ideal for an Easter card

I started by stamping the images onto piece of white card, using ‘fern green’ Archival ink for the floral wreath and the Bible verse, and ‘wild honey’ Distress Ink for the church.

The next step was to colour in the leaves and flowers using a waterbrush and inks – ‘wild honey’ and Artistry’s ‘golden turmeric’ for the flowers and ‘peeled paint’ Distress ink for the leaves. I then used a nested circle die to cut the topper out.

I wanted to make the topper stand out on the card, but didn’t just want to mount it onto a contrasting piece of card. In the end, I decided to use the Claritystamp ‘sunshine’ stencil – I brushed the ‘wild honey’ through it directly onto a 6×6 card blank, just focusing on the outer part which would show around the topper. I do like this effect though – I’ll store that idea up for future use!

I finished by simply attaching the topper to the centre of the card blank, with the sunrays shining around it.

Now, I do have a slight confession to make with this card – I didn’t do it totally alone…! I’d left the table halfway through making the card to take a phone call, and when I returned I had a helper keeping guard over my project (at least that’s what Benji claimed!)

Beautiful card! I love the stamp set you have chosen for your card topper. I am in the US, however Barbara Gray and Clarity are near and dear to my heart. I have watched every single you tube video she has created over the past year, I adore her. Thanks so much for joining us at CC&S.

Thank you! It was Barbara and Claritystamps that first got me into stamping about 12 years ago
