Clarity new design club lookback – lovebirds #80

Welcome to my crafty blog. Here’s the next installment in my lookback through the Claritystamp new design club and today it’s #80, the lovebirds from June 2013. I’ve realised that this is the second day in a row that I’ve pencil coloured birds – clearly Barbara Gray has had a bigger impact on me than I thought!

I started by stamping the birds in Archival ‘watering can’ and then shaded them with my Spectrum Noir pencils. It’s amazing how many colours are in such small birds! Once done, I fussy cut them with scissors (and before you all shout, I did eventually notice that I’d missed doing the branch!)

I then found a piece of Clarity’s ‘Amazonia’ paper which toned really well with the birds, and cut a couple of strips, trimming the edge of the smaller one at an angle. I also went round the smaller one with a black Sharpie to give it a bit of definition. I used the Clarity ‘clouds’ mask and a blending brush to create the sky with ‘tumbled glass’ Distress ink, before attaching the two strips of paper.

I next stamped the sentiment using the Archival ‘watering can, before attaching the birds with foam pads and sticking the whole piece to a 6×6 card blank.

I thought this would make a great engagement or anniversary card. I going to share it over at a couple of blog challenges, which I took inspiration from: Fusion Card Challenge and Tic Tac Toe (I went down the left of the grid with cute critters, celebrate & coloured/pencils). Huge thanks as well to the team at Tic Tac Toe for choosing my card from last week (polka dot flowers) as one of their top picks!
