Welcome to my crafty blog. Just a quick post today, as I’m on a training update all day for a new part time role. I’ve delved back into my Stampin’ Up! stash again for this card, with the ‘beautiful friendship’ set, which I’ve used a few times recently. The colours are inspired by this week’s challenge over at As You See It. I don’t have all the SU colours listed, so have gone for the nearest matches.

I’d been asked by a friend to make a ‘thinking of you’ card and wanted a simple design, so decided to just use the small rosebuds and a leaf spray from the stamp set. I’ve got a few SU write-on markers (not the alcohols blending pens), so chose to colour the stamp using those, which meant I could control more easily where the colour went. I used ‘poppy parade’ for the flower heads and ‘mossy meadow’ for the leaves and stalks.

I started by stamping the double rosebuds in the centre first, then added a set of leaves either side followed by just the large rosebud on the left and the small one twice on the right. I filled in the remaining gaps with the leaves, so that it formed a floral spray.

I then added the dots from the ‘avant garden’ stamp set, using Adirondack ink in ‘latte’. It gives an impression of those little gypsophilia flowers around the roses. I finshed by stamping the sentiment (from another old SU set – ‘sweet essentials’) in Archival ‘watering can’ to pick up the grey from the colour challenge.

All I then needed to do was to mount the piece of card onto a 6×6 card blank. I really like the way this turned out (especially as I didn’t have a proper plan in my head to start with!) I’ll definitely make more of these in various colours.
