Birthday flowers

Hello. Welcome to my little crafty blog. Today I’m sharing a birthday card made using the diamond stamp from “Sam’s shapes” by Claritystamp. This is such a versatile set, and I love making little vignettes in each shape. These little pictures were inspired by the lovely Spring weather we’ve been having in the UK, which does help to make the restrictions from lockdown just a bit more bearable.

I started by stamping the open diamond onto a card blank. I first saw this style when Maria Moorhouse demonstrated it at one of the Claritystamp open days, and it works well for both male and female cards. The tip with this is to stamp the centre diamond first and then work out to the top & bottom of the card, so it’s evenly balanced.

next is to cut a mask out, so you can begin to add colour into the diamond shapes. I just stamp the diamond in the centre of a piece of copy paper, and then cut out the inner part

then place the mask over each of the diamonds in turn, and add ink using a stencil brush

The next step is to add the pictures to form the little vignettes. Place the mask back over each diamond, and then stamp through it. I used some of the Claritystamp ‘wee foliage’ set of stamps, together with the squirrel from the ‘birdhouse’ stamps.

Add a sentiment, and it’s done. I hope you’ve managed to get outside into the sunshine for a bit this weekend. Take care and stay safe
