Hello crafty friends. We’ve got a new sketch to inspire you at CAS Colours & Sketches, featuring this great design of five shapes (they don’t have to be circles). I thought it was the perfect opportunity to break out my little Bird Row stamp, one of the free gift options this weekend in Clarity’s Autumn Sale, which ended last night. As you can see, I rotated the sketch for my card, as I figured the birds would look a little odd all on their sides!

I opted for a one layer card this time round and first stamped my bird row across the lower edge using black Archival ink. I then ran low tack tape across the top and down the sides to give me a border, before gently brushing ‘stormy sky’ Distress Oxide across the clouds mask above the birds.

I then simply shaded in the birds and the branch with Polychromo pencils, finishing with one of the Bijou Sentiments.

I was so lucky with this stamp having five birds perched on the branch to fit the five shapes on our sketch! Come on over to the CAS C&S gallery and show us how you’ve interpreted our sketch – our challenge runs for the next two weeks.
And these little birds are going to be fluttering into a couple of other galleries too. I took the colours for my card from Color Dare, together with the ‘wings’ theme at Double D

So sweet. I can just hear them singing the ‘Happy Birthday’ song to the recipient! 😉
