The one that got away…

Hello crafty friends. I’ve got another look at the new SHAC Fish stamps today, this time using both the outline and infill sets on one of my inky backgrounds. You’ve got to feel a bit sorry for this poor fisherman, who’s missed the big catch right underneath him! Read on, and I’ll explain how this one got away…

I found a mop-up piece of 3.5″ premium card in my stash which had blue & green on it (I think it was from cleaning my brayer at some point). I laid the small Dotty Wave stencil across the lower half and brushed ‘tumbled glass’ Distress Oxide through it, then switched to a ground mask from the Riverside Landscape set and blended ‘mowed lawn’ upwards from the water.

I stamped the outline fisherman and two fish in black Archival ink, then switched to the infill set to add the colour. I blended ‘stormy sky’ and ‘uncharted mariner’ onto the fish stamps and added those to the outlines. I opted for Polychromos for the fisherman and his boat, leaving the texture on the boat from my shading instead of blending it out.

I wanted to add a little more interest to the fish, so dotted on them with a blue Pergacolour pen and a white Posca pen, also using that for their eyes.

I added one of the sentiments from the outline set and edged the topper with a black Sharpie. I then used one of the smaller square embedders to emboss a frame on the front of a 5×5 card blank using a ball tool, then simply sat the topper within it.

As you know from Monday’s post, this would be so far from my idea of heaven – in fact I’d have been out of the boat as soon as I saw even that small fish!

So I’m going to dispatch this fishy pair off quickly into the galleries at 613 Avenue Create for their ‘play time’ theme and The Male Room who are looking for jobs or professions – fisherman is a job as well as a hobby, isn’t it?
