H for horticulture at Alphabet Challenge

Hello everyone and welcome to our new theme of H for Horticulture (the science of creating gardens) at Alphabet Challenge. There’s lots of potential with this one and I decided to feature the fab In The Garden word stamp from Timestamp Creations – I picked it up a couple of months ago and this is it’s first outing!

Before inking up my stamp, however, I cut a square of premium card and inked up the Funky Daisies stencil from the May Craft Club (#144). I pulled out one of my Colour Cube cards for the tones and brushed ‘mowed lawn’, ‘kitsch flamingo’. ‘picked raspberry’ and ‘wilted violet’ Distress Oxides through the stencil to create my background

I then stamped the In The Garden image over the stencilled flowers using ‘watering can’ Archival ink.

Next was to cut the card down using one of the Film Strip Doodle Frame-It Panel dies. I then simply added a mount of Waimea Falls companion paper, popped a little yellow shading on the bee and camera and attached it to a 6×6 card blank.

Quite a departure from my usual style (no white space on this one) but I’m pleased with how it turned out. How would you create your garden? We’d love to see your design in our gallery at Alphabet, and there’s more inspiration from the rest of the team over on the blog page to help get you started.

I’m also going to share this with a couple of other challenges. The fab stamp designed by Janice is perfect for Word Power and my stencilled blooms fit the theme of ‘summer colours’ at Allsorts Challenge and at Four Seasons where they’re still celebrating summer.
