Garden of blooms

Hello everyone. Well this heat shows no signs of abating and we’ve apparently just had the driest July on record with virtually no rain in the South of England, so the only pretty flowers to be seen are here on this card thanks to one of the Dotted Blooms stamp sets and a Statement Sentiment. This is actually one of the designs I was demonstrating at Clarity’s Open Days in June, but hadn’t shared on here (until now!)

Having cut a piece of premium card down to 4.5″ square, I used #1 of the Big & Bold Embedders with a ball tool to emboss a frame onto it – these are a brilliant idea, as they’re perfectly sized to frame the sentiments! Obviously, having created the frame it was then an easy matter to stamp the sentiment within it using ‘evergreen bough’ Distress Oxide.

Next, I started to create my flower garden, randomly stamping three of the Dotted Blooms in ‘pciked raspberry’, ‘saltwater taffy’ and ‘shaded lilac’ Distress Oxides.

This is then where the pre-cut masks that are part of the stamp set came into their own! I could cover the lower row of flowers, working from left to right, to allow me to stamp the stems of the upper ones in ‘evergreen bough’ so that they sat behind the bottom ones.

Next was to add the little leaves in more ‘evergreen bough’, using a stamp pen and working with first & second generation ink – that filled in my garden nicely. I could then shade in the flowers with co-ordinating Polychromo pencils.

All it then needed was a mount of green companion paper and a 6×6 card blank!

I do enjoy repeat stamping designs – it’s just so satisfying and very easy with Clarity’s stamp pens! I’m going to share this little floral delight with the challenges at We Love Stamping for their ‘summer blooms’ theme and Triple B for their ‘blooms’ option. I’ll be back tomorrow with another creation to share with you.

  1. A pretty garden with lovely pastel colours. It is pretty dry here as well and any flowers we had are fading fast due to the lack of water.
