Happy sunny days at CAS Colours & Sketches #587

Hello everyone. Apologies if you dropped in earlier to read my witty and enlightening (??) thoughts on making this card – I had got all the photos uploaded a couple of days ago, then got distracted and completely forgot to come back and add in the text! I was clearly having a senior moment, but better late than never, as they say! It’s time for our new theme at CAS Colours & Sketches, where Rachel has given us a sketch to play with – although she’s put a tag in the layout, I decided that one of the new Stamp Stamps would work perfectly instead, building a little scene with the Friends & Family Silhouettes – Life in Miniature stamps.

So, here’s my process… I started with a piece of premium card, cut to fit on a 5×5 card blank, and stamped the stamp outline in black Archival ink. I masked the inner area with low tack tape and added the little girl on the swing. I could then use the Clouds & Hills page from the Build a Scene masks, brushing ‘broken china’ Distress Oxide across the clouds for the sky and creating the ground with ‘mowed lawn. I then stamped a couple of the little shrub images into each corner.

Lifting the low tack tape off, I replaced it with a mask for the stamp outline (these come pre-cut with the stamps!), so that I could brush more of the ‘broken china’ and ‘mowed lawn’ into the background, so my scene flowed out beyond the stamp frame. I added a couple more of the plant images on either side, again to continue the little garden beyond the frame.

After lifting the mask off, I then simply added the sentiment from the Triangle People set and popped the topper straight onto my 5×5 card blank.

I do love creating little scenes inside frame – it’s such a classic Clarity style too! Do come and join us at CAS Colours & Sketches and share your interpretation of our sketch – there’s more inspiration from the rest of the design team over on our blog to help get your creative juices flowing!

Meanwhile, I’m going to share this one with a couple of other current challenges. The Four Seasons are looking for summer cards (do you remember childhood days playing in the sun?) and my stripped back design also works for Simply Clean & Simple.
