Birthday echinacea

Hello everyone. Well, it’s the first Sunday of the month and so Barbara Gray is back on Clarity Social TV this afternoon with some more new goodies! This set are called the Blooms & Stalk Sentiments stamps – great for building your own flowers, especially as each image comes in three sizes. (they’re not on the Clarity’s website yet, so I’ll add the link & product details once they are released). I decided to create a garden of pretty pink echinacea (coneflowers) for this birthday card, so read on for the details.

I started by cutting a piece of Clarity’s premium card to 4″ square and ran low tack tape around the edges to mask off a border. I then randomly stamped all three sizes of the echinacea heads with ‘kitsch flamingo Distress Oxide.

Next was to add in the stems and leaves using ‘walnut stain’. I used a little torn bit of low tack tape to cover the top edge of each flower as I was stamping in the stem for the one above it, then added the leaves using two of the stamps. I used pink and brown Polychromo pencils to pop a little shading onto the flowers and leaves, before taking a brown Perga Colour pen to dot in the centres of the echinacea, which looked very pale in just the pink ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the set across the flower using ‘potting soil’ Archival ink and ran a brown Sharpie around the edges of the topper. I wanted a deep border for it, so covered the front of a 5×5 card blank with a piece of pink Indian Summer companion paper and attached the topper to the centre.

There are so many lovely flowers in this new little collection, and I’ve got more samples to share with you over the coming days. I’m looking forward to seeing what my Clarity team mates have done with these as well – Barbara will have lots of their samples on screen this afternoon, although I’ll be watching it on catch-up later as we’ve got a family day out.

I’m also going to share this with a couple of blog challenges – Seize the Birthday want cards that are ‘primarily pink’ and these lovely echinacea fit the bill for Beautiful Blossoms.
